Rishabh Sinha's move from TV to the big screen

TV heartthrob Rishabh Sinha is playing a negative character in Kaanchi. Rishabh, who is popular on the TV screen, shares his experience on his first meeting with Subhash Ghai.

"When the COO of Mukta Arts called me, I was like why would they want me? Why would Subhash Ghai even meet me. I was called to the office and waited for Subhash Ghai and in just five minutes, I was interacting directly with the the Showman himself.

The first question he asked me was whether I would do a film where I will have to pick a character for myself. I was like, sure, why not!

I was just awestruck when I met Subhash Ghai for the first time. He made me feel really confident about myself and during the meeting I was sure that I wanted to debut on the big screen with Kaanchi."

Subhash Ghai's Epic Villains

The showman Shubhash Ghai is known to make epic films with strong characters. We all remember not just the leading actors but also the negative characters from his movies.

Here are some of the most memorable ones:

Dr Dang from Karma portrayed by Anupam Kher is considered as one of the best negative roles in Bollywood. His dialogue “is thappad ki gunj tumhe zarur sunayi degi” became a trademark of the film. Anupam Kher is still remembered for his performance in the film and whenever there is a discussion on the best negative characters in Bollywood, Dr Dang is always in the list!

Simi Garewal played a critically acclaimed negative role in Subhash Ghai's Karz. The role acclaimed role of Kamini Verma, the murderous wife from the past life, which won her a Filmfare nomination

Jaaved Jafferi debuted with a negative role in an epic Subhash Ghai movie - Meri Jung. It had the famous song Bol Baby Bol Rock N Roll sung by Kishore Kumar. Here, Jaffrey epitomized the spoilt brat who uses his father's money and power to exploit his classmates. This reflected the college life of the 80s where such stereotypes were present and seem to be present till this day.

Khalnayak shows how politicians use the young and helpless to create their army. Sanjay Dutt became an icon with this role and his image with the long hair and the reckless attitude made him the heartthrob of the entire nation. Khalnayak became the essential villain of the 90s, which inspired many other roles in the 90s.
